SOFTWARE ENGINEER: ENTRY-SENIOR LEVELS GBL Systems is a leading system engineering and software development firm located in Camarillo, CA, with a 30-year history of developing tomorrow’s Electronic Warfare capability today.

GBL specializes in the areas of Systems and Software Engineering, Electronic Warfare, Network Centric Warfare, Modeling/ Simulation and Avionics Development.

As part of a dynamic team, GBL Engineers contribute to all aspects of the software development process, which includes requirements definition, design, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, and in-service support to various US and Foreign Military customers.

Qualified candidates should have a working level of understanding of software development, unit testing, peer reviews and configuration management.

Successful applicants should have the ability to work effectively and cooperatively in an embedded government/contractor team environment.

Qualified candidates must be self-starters with the ability to work independently without close supervision.

Applicants should exhibit excellent interpersonal and oral/written communications skills.

Ideal candidates will be expected to mentor less experienced engineers and influence the structure of an established dynamic team.

Citizens.

Current active SECRET clearance is desired.

Must be able to obtain an Interim Security clearance within first 90 days of employment.

Must be able to obtain and maintain special access program (SAP) level.

Roles, Responsibilities, & Requirements: Level 1-Bachelors in a technical labor category (Engineering, Computer Science, Math, etc.) with 0-2 year of related professional experience.

Review existing code, and map its functionality.

Understand and describe software elements written in different languages, in particular Pascal, Ada and C.

Some familiarity in working with legacy code, and some ability to make recommendations for improvements of code - in particular, recommendations for rewriting legacy software using modern best practices.

Ability to write software appraisals, review technical documents, and strong communication skills, both withing a team and with customers.

Level 2- Bachelors in a technical labor category (Engineering, Computer Science, Math, etc.) with 2-5 years of related professional experience.

Review existing code, and map its functionality.

Understand and describe software elements written in different languages, in particular Pascal, Ada and C.

Familiarity in working with legacy code, and ability to make recommendations for improvements of code - in particular, recommendations for rewriting legacy software using modern best practices.

Ability to write software appraisals, review technical documents, as well as producing technical documentation of software, and strong communication skills, both withing a team and with customers.

Level 3-Bachelors in a technical labor category (Engineering, Computer Science, Math, etc.) with 5-8 years of related professional experience.

Experience with software elements written in different languages, in particular Pascal, Ada and C.

Familiarity in working with legacy code, and ability to make recommendations for improvements of code - in particular, recommendations for rewriting legacy software using modern best practices.

Experience in writing software appraisals, reviewing technical documents, as well as producing technical documentation of software, and strong communication skills, both withing a team and with customers.

Must be willing to travel to CA.

Salary is based on current qualifications, related experience, and contractual requirements which could fall outside of this range.
