Position Overview:
The Arena Family Office is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Experienced Staff Accountant to join our team. This role is critical to supporting the financial operations of a diverse portfolio of assets, investments, and business ventures. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting skills, advanced Excel expertise, and exceptional organizational abilities, along with the ability to navigate interpersonal dynamics and work effectively with a variety of personalities.
Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting:
Maintain the general ledger and perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
Record journal entries, reconcile accounts, and ensure financial accuracy across all entities.
Document Organization & Management:
Organize, maintain, and update financial records, including contracts, agreements, and tax documents.
Ensure all records are stored securely and comply with regulatory requirements.
Advanced Excel Utilization:
Develop and use advanced formulas and pivot tables to analyze financial data.
Create detailed, dynamic reports to provide actionable insights for family members and leadership.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
Process invoices, vendor payments, and customer billings.
Special Projects:
Support investment performance tracking, budgeting, and forecasting.
Participate in ad hoc projects and analyses as required by family members or leadership.Requirements:
Qualifications:
2+ years of relevant accounting experience; family office or private investment experience welcomed.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
High attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize according to deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team setting with individuals across all levels and personalities, including high expectations or precise requirements.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with real estate, private equity, or partnership accounting.
Knowledge of investment tracking systems or portfolio management tools.
Experience with QuickBooks and/or Sage Intacct
Prior experience working in a family office setting
Previous experience in financial reporting responsibilities, such as preparing financial statements, management reports, and account reconciliations
Prior experience working with legal, finance, and regulatory professionals is a plus.
