Job Title: Superintendent Mechanical – Sheet Metal
Location: Abilene, TX

POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Superintendent to lead and manage large mechanical construction projects with a focus on sheet metal. This role is responsible for overseeing field operations, ensuring adherence to project schedules, enforcing safety protocols, and coordinating subcontractor activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to maintain jobsite efficiency, safety, and quality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project & Safety Oversight
Enforce all jobsite safety protocols and OSHA compliance for employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
Lead safety meetings, conduct incident investigations, and maintain documentation.
Coordinate with local authorities and ensure all safety inspections and licensing requirements are met.
Leadership & Supervision
Lead and mentor foremen and field staff; ensure effective communication of scope and schedules.
Maintain a productive and motivated workforce by resolving conflicts and supporting team needs.
Build strong working relationships with subcontractors, inspectors, engineers, and other key personnel.
Project Execution
Maintain a 3-week look-ahead schedule and ensure timely ordering of materials and equipment.
Oversee jobsite cleanliness, security, and daily work performance.
Attend construction and pre-construction meetings; provide input on job progress and challenges.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure project work aligns with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Track RFIs and change orders; maintain updated as-built drawings.
Complete superintendent daily reports, review timecards, manage back charges and startup forms.
QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a craft apprenticeship program or equivalent field experience
5+ years of experience in a supervisory role in mechanical/sheet metal construction
Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards and field safety practices
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Proficient in scheduling, planning, and job cost controls
Strong communication, leadership, and team management skills
Proficiency in computer systems and project management software
High attention to detail with ability to remain calm under pressure
EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent (some college preferred)
OSHA 30 certification (or must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
May require an active Texas Journeyman Plumber license depending on project scope
Must meet all jobsite-specific access requirements
