Job Summary
The Process Engineer is responsible for building the technical capability of the Operations Teams. This individual will work to drive out losses through a daily process that is data driven and focused on root cause resolution. In addition, the Process Engineer will be responsible for developing and educating the teams on Centerlines, CIL’s, and the Changeover Management Process. They will own the data integrity of the line monitoring system and will be key in collecting/consolidating data in a reasonable format to drive decisions for the line team. A majority of the Process Engineer’s day will be spent on the production floor working with the teams to build their technical mastery of the system. The Process Engineer will also build knowledge of the Supervisor’s work and be able to cover production when necessary.
Shift Information: Primarily day shift with the expectation to be flexible to support a 24/7 operation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leads Centerline (CL) & CIL Management for the lines
Develop Centerline & CIL Targets for equipment
Train team members on how to verify CL/CIL targets and how to react when out of limits
Investigating, validating, and updating new CL/CIL Standards to eliminate losses
Ownership of the Changeover Management for the line
Develops and documents changeover procedures and standards
Trains Maintenance and Operations Teams on use of changeover standards and validates adherence to standards
Performs data analysis and tracking for changeover time and for return to normal time
Leads portions of the Daily, Weekly, and Month Direction Setting Meetings
Daily reporting of top stops and KPI’s
Daily, weekly, monthly loss tree development and analysis
Supports development and execution of the plan for the day
Develops 90 day plan and tracks progress
Owns the data integrity of the line monitoring systems
Builds capability of the line team to understand losses through data
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving
Leads root cause problem solving efforts to eliminate losses
Builds the capability of the teams technical troubleshooting
Works with Asset Care team to drive the Break Down Elimination Process and improve Maintenance Planning & Scheduling
Additional Specific Duties
Validate / report production counts and line efficiencies
Audit and verify adherence to rated equipment speed
Understand and teach basic line flow principles to Operations and Maintenance Teams
Serve as relief supervisor as needed
Assist Packaging Department with special project work
Demonstrate skills in leadership, problem solving, coaching, and training
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Internet, Outlook, SharePoint)
Strong verbal and written communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, vendors, and customers
Effective analytical, administrative, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Must be available for overtime as needed
Minimum Qualifications
College graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree, Engineering preferred or equivalent manufacturing experience.
Knowledge and use of Statistical Tools
Demonstrated motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to prioritize and multi-task under continuously changing business priorities
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement is a plus
Strong Mathematical/Analytical skills
