Job Description
All staff must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma and must be able to pass a background check. All applicants must have an understanding of child development, possess good communication skills, have a positive attitude, and must be able to follow directions.
We are looking for qualified Teachers for our infant room, a floater for our toddler room and a position for breaks, and a floater for our preschool classrooms. As an assistant teacher you will help the Lead teachers meet the requirements within the classroom. Assistant teachers are expected to hold sole ratio and are responsible for the wellbeing of the students in the classroom by following the guidelines set in place by lead teachers, administrators and licensing. Teachers must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of child development, best practices and educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can grow and develop successfully.
Responsibilities
Follow the curriculum set in place by Lead teachers
Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children
Assist in observing each child's development and skills to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments. For younger children, model appropriate play and social skills
Practice Active supervision of children to ensure they are safe at all times
Assist with tracking children’s progress and report to Lead teachers
Communicate with lead teacher, director and parents regularly to understand the children’s background
Collaborate with other co-workers, children, and parents of the children you are caring for
Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
Skills
Proven experience working with children
Excellent understanding of the principles of child development
Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
Excellent communication and instructional skills
Ability to act as mediator between children
Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
Certification in child First Aid and CPR (or willing to get certified within 90 days of being hired)
Minimum of a High School degree, higher degree in related field preferred
Valid drivers license
Must be able to successfully pass a background check
