Journeyman Toolmaker
Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Journeyman Toolmaker committed to quality and precision. This role is ideal for a dedicated professional eager to learn the proprietary tooling construction and machining methods that have led to our success. You will be instrumental in providing critical injection molds, tools, and assembly fixtures, interacting regularly with our Design, Molding, and Final Assembly teams within our vertically integrated, privately-held company.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform core toolmaker operations, including the creation of plastic injection molds and/or components, mold triage, and tooling repair.
Execute routine mold maintenance, cleanings, and complete tool changeovers.
Perform routine machine maintenance for tool room equipment.
Operate a variety of tool room machinery, including manual and CNC lathes, mills, and grinders.
Machine parts to exceptionally tight tolerances, holding within .0005” or tighter when required.
Maintain a neat and organized personal workspace.
Develop specifications from complex blueprints and hand sketch simple parts as needed.
Strictly adhere to all safety requirements, including proper dress attire, safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, and the correct use of cleaning fluids and coolants.
Ability to work overtime as needed to meet production demands.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements:
Basic conversational programming knowledge of CNC mills (e.g., Hurco Win-Max, Accurite Mill Power).
Ownership of basic tool room tools and a strong understanding of micrometers, depth micrometers, and dial calipers.
Proficiency in basic math skills, including geometry and trigonometry for angle calculations.
Ability to read complex drawings and calculate dimensions not explicitly provided.
Capable of moving 100 lbs with assistance and lifting 50 lbs independently.
Basic computer skills.
Desirable Skills (Not Required, but a Plus):
Knowledge of Charmilles Die Sinking type EDMs (e.g., RoboForm 350).
Familiarity with AutoDesk Inventor, Solidworks, or other 3D modeling software.
Experience with CAM software and/or AutoDesk Inventor CAM post processor.

$38/hr
Shift:
