Job Description: Chief Operating Officer (Ready Mix Concrete)
As the COO, you will play a crucial role in driving our mission to change the global concrete industry. You will work closely with the CEO and the Leadership Team to oversee and enhance our operations, spearhead innovation, and ensure our technology offerings align with our strategic objectives. Your extensive industry experience and entrepreneurial spirit will be key in advancing our sales and marketing efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the CEO to drive the organisational vision, operations strategy, and hiring levels, ensuring alignment with our disruptive goals.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local business regulations, and take proactive action when necessary.
Business Strategy Implementation: Develop and implement business strategies and plans that align with short- and long-term objectives, fostering growth and innovation.
Financial Management: Manage capital investments and expenses aggressively to meet investor targets for growth and profitability.
Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders to drive business development.
Market Insight: Maintain a deep understanding of the concrete marketplace and the latest innovation offerings, positioning Client's company at the forefront of the industry.
Operational Excellence: Drive cultural and technological operational excellence, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Industry Expertise: At least 20 years of experience in the Concrete Ready Mix Industry, with a deep understanding of industry dynamics and trends.
Operations Management: Proven track record in operations management, including developing and implementing systems, policies, processes, and procedures in a startup environment.
Project Management: Strong project management and resource planning skills, with a focus on delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
Startup Experience: Experience in the daily operations of fast-growing startups, including fundraising, legal, marketing, accounting, IT, and other departments.
Business Planning: Expertise in business planning and data analysis, with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
R&D and Innovation: Experience in R&D within the concrete or construction field, driving innovation and product development.
Financial Acumen: Strong financial management and budgeting skills, with the ability to manage capital efficiently.
Strategic Development: Proficiency in developing and executing business strategies that drive growth and market disruption.
Client Management: Demonstrated ability to manage and grow client relationships, fostering long-term partnerships.
Objective Balancing: Ability to balance long- and short-term objectives, ensuring sustainable growth and success.
Intrapreneurial Skills: Strong intrapreneurial mindset, with the ability to innovate and drive change within the organization.
Change Management: Skilled in strategic visioning and change management, capable of leading the company through periods of transformation.
Educational Background: BS degree in Business or a related field is required.
Leadership Abilities: Ability to recruit, lead, motivate, mentor, and coach the senior management team to develop a high-performance organization.
Technical Direction: Ability to provide technical direction and hands-on operations management, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
Financial Analysis: Strong experience in analyzing and preparing financial spreadsheets and creating effective marketing slide decks.
Communication Skills: Excellent technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to engage with all levels of the workforce, leadership team, board officers, and investors.
Talent Development: Proven ability to develop and communicate with employee talent, mentoring and motivating them to achieve higher positions within the company.
