CNC Programmer and Operator
Paying $36 / HR to $46 / HR
Location: Portland, OR
Responsibilities:
Create and optimize CNC programs for 3-axis and 5-axis machines using Gibbscam CAM software.
Plan machining operations in coordination with fabrication and other outside processes to produce parts efficiently and accurately.
Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
Select appropriate tools, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies to ensure high-quality output.
Operate CNC and manual machines when programming needs are met or during lower programming volume period.
Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality control personnel to ensure part accuracy and adherence to specifications.
Perform test runs and troubleshoot programs and machining processes as needed.
Serve as a backup foreman, supporting the lead foreman with scheduling, coordination of work, and team oversight when required.
Maintain documentation and revise programs to reflect changes or improvements.
Maintain, organize, and update tool libraries and tooling stock.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and shop protocols.
Serve as backup foreman when Forman is out.
Roughly 70% of time spent programming and 30% operating.
Qualifications:
Must have experience programming, setting up and operating both CNC Mill and CNC Lathes.
Environment / Shift:
Heavy industrial environment with large parts being machined.
Large machine shop with many machines but only 5 people in the machine shop currently (others in the fab shop).
This is a job shop and has the capability to take on an array of diverse work.
The shop feels empty because of how big it is and only 5 people in it but they are busy and growing and expecting to double machine shop headcount to 10 in near future.
Don't mistake the empty space for being slow as they have a large backlog of work.
PPE worn includes steel toed boots, safety glasses, gloves, and ear plugs.
Day Shift: Monday to Thursday, 6:00am-4:30pm.

This is a job shop with machine work changing daily so you will not get stuck machining the same part over and over again.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $66560.00 - $83200.00/yr.
