Solvet Services, LLC, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, is seeking experienced and adaptable Dental Assistants to support a federal correctional healthcare program in Anthony, TX (near El Paso).

Performance Schedule

Days: Monday through Thursday (except Federal holidays)

Hours: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch

$18.00 to $21.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Dental Assistant Responsibilities

All duties will be performed in accordance with established standards and regulations within the field of dental assistance, in compliance with all Federal and State policies, Joint Commission (JC) standards, and the American Correctional Association (ACA) guidelines for correctional institutions.

The Dental Assistant's performance will be monitored by the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR). The contractor must be able to work with a diverse population of adults in custody, from various cultural, regional, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.

The Dental Assistant is responsible for, but not limited to, the following services:

Clinical Assistance:

Assist the Dental Officer in specialty areas such as restorative, oral surgery, periodontics, prosthetics, and examinations.

Retrieve patient records, escort patients to appropriate dental sections, and prepare patients for dental procedures.

Prepare dental instruments, materials, drugs, and medications for use.

Pass instruments, retract tissues, irrigate oral cavities, and operate aspirators.

Observe patients' responses and assist with patient dismissal.

Patient Care & Education:

Provide instructions for follow-up dental appointments and aftercare.

Record dental treatments in both electronic and paper records.

Assist in emergency dental care and treatment.

Procedural Assistance:

Provide dental health education to patients.

Conduct dental prophylaxis and screening examinations.

Assist in preparing patients for periodontal surgery and perform dental charting.

Perform routine oral prophylaxis and apply anti-cariogenic agents.

Fabricate and repair dental prostheses under supervision, using acrylic resins and porcelain.

Take diagnostic radiographs (periapical, occlusal, lateral, jaw, TMJ, and panoramic), ensuring proper positioning and minimizing radiation exposure.

Radiographic Procedures:

Process and save digital radiographs to patient medical records.

Perform quality assurance on radiographic equipment and maintain infection control procedures.

Instrument & Equipment Maintenance:

Clean, sharpen, sterilize, and perform minor repairs on dental instruments and equipment.

Report defective equipment and implement corrective actions.

Dental Assistant Qualifications

Education & Certification:

Specialty training from a licensed dentist or certification from an accredited Dental Assistant school, including training in dental radiology and radiology safety.

Certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) by the American Red Cross or a similar recognized organization.
