Job Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Live Operations Manager with 7-10 years of experience in the poultry industry to oversee and optimize our live operations, including growout, transportation, and overall flock management. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of improving operational efficiency, implementing best practices, and ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and biosecurity.

Key Responsibilities

Growout Management:

Oversee the entire growout process, from chick placement to market-ready birds

Develop and implement strategies to optimize bird health, growth rates, and feed conversion

Collaborate with contract growers to ensure adherence to company standards and best practices

Monitor and analyze flock performance data to identify areas for improvement

Implement and maintain effective biosecurity protocols across all growout facilities

Transportation Management:

Coordinate and optimize live bird transportation from farms to processing plants

Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and animal welfare standards

Develop and implement strategies to minimize transportation stress on birds

Optimize transportation routes and schedules to maximize efficiency and reduce costs

Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of transportation equipment

Team Leadership and Development:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of field supervisors, technicians, and support staff

Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the live operations team

Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members

Identify and address training needs to enhance team capabilities and performance

Operational Excellence:

Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all aspects of live operations

Continuously assess and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency and productivity

Implement and maintain quality control measures throughout the live operations cycle

Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, food safety standards, and animal welfare guidelines

Financial Management:

Develop and manage budgets for live operations, including growout and transportation costs

Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or animal welfare

Analyze financial data to make informed decisions and drive profitability

Prepare and present regular financial reports to senior management

Stakeholder Management:

Build and maintain strong relationships with contract growers, suppliers, and industry partners

Collaborate with other departments, including processing, quality assurance, and sales, to ensure alignment of goals
