St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and The Crawford Lab seek a Senior Scientist - Human Developmental Immunology. This is a unique opportunity to join the ground level of a new endeavor in the Crawford Lab focused on the comprehensive characterization of the human immune system throughout childhood development. You will work closely with next-generation, multi-omic assays and integrative computational analysis experts to understand immunity in health, disease, and treatment. This work requires broad knowledge of human immunology, which you will apply collaboratively to design panels of relevant immunological markers, generate gold standard data, test and validate novel, sequencing-based approaches to data generation, and ultimately generate and publish population-level data from primary samples.

The ideal candidate will have extensive bench experience, a keen attention to detail, and a history of first author publications in the field of immunology. Success in this position will also require excellent communication and organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, the ability to collaborate effectively, and working in tandem with multiple members of a culturally and scientifically diverse team to achieve assigned research objectives.

Candidates with experience in the following are especially encouraged to apply:

Broad expertise with regards to peripheral or mucosal immunology in humans.

Demonstrable expertise in one or more specific immunology focus areas in the context of innate or adaptive immunity and host-pathogen interactions.

Demonstrable and broad appreciation of relevant immunology literature

Childhood immune development.

Experience with cell culture, multiparameter flow cytometry and/or single-cell transcriptomics, and primary human samples.

Job Responsibilities:

Conducts experiments/projects independently under overall direction of the PI and/or more senior scientist.

Develops new research protocols, techniques and procedures.

Identifies experimental data pertinent to the analysis problem. Processes, organizes and summarizes data, reporting these experimental results. Monitors quality and integrity of recorded information and data. Ensures data collection and entry methods meet quality standards. Interprets data as it relates to research problem.

May publish as co-author and/or draft sections of research manuscripts as necessary. Presents research to colleagues within the organization or at external meetings/events.

Provides lab operation support and makes recommendations regarding equipment use and maintenance, supplies, etc. Troubleshoots instrument and equipment issues. Provides input into lab operation processes and procedures. Recommends equipment acquisition and decommissioning.

Regularly trains and oversees the work of others in laboratory techniques and procedures.

Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals of the department and institution.

Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required.

Minimum Experience:

Ten (10) years relevant work experience is required.

Eight (8) years of relevant work experience is required with a Master's degree.

Five (5) years of relevant work experience is required with a PhD.
