Chemical Engineer - Systems

The focus of the position will be to execute projects within UCC’s Project Management and Contract Engineering (PMCE) teams. Primary responsibilities will include technically supporting contact execution activities within the power industry, utility and industrial wastewater treatment markets, often acting in the role of technical lead engineer/project engineer. The role will include vendor equipment selection, sales proposal support, field service/commissioning support, and customer interaction. The candidate will have demonstrated capabilities in collaborating with others to perform engineering tasks within a team environment. The role may also include onsite assignments for customer meetings, sampling efforts, and/or project support.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated capabilities in collaborating with others to perform engineering tasks within a team environment. Work experience with a privately held company will be beneficial.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Chemical Engineer will:
Lead the technical execution of assigned contracts; providing creative solutions to remove obstacles and solve execution difficulties.
Lead project engineering activities including interface with customer, subcontracts/partners, suppliers and other UCC departments to ensure contract deliverables are met.
Achieve annual contract execution goals, including schedule, budget, and quality targets.
Collaborate with UCC personnel to define and drive actions which maximize customer satisfaction, increase UCC profitability, and effectively meet common goals.
Build and maintain technical expertise by staying up to date with current technology and networking with customers, suppliers, and partners.
Demonstrate UCC’s core values.
All other duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationship:
The Chemical Engineer reports to the Senior Supervisor Systems Engineering – Core Markets. This position does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities. Chicagoland location is required.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor of Science in Chemical engineering is required
A minimum of 3 to 8 years of engineering experience in engineering; power industry or industrial/utility wastewater environments is preferred
Previous experience in technical leadership for physical, chemical, biological wastewater treatment systems with an understanding of treatment processes is preferred
Previous experience covering contract execution disciplines with a proven track record of success
Professional Registration (PE License) is preferred

Ability to sit or stand at a desk using a computer 80% of the time
Ability to accommodate varying work schedules
Ability to climb up and down stairs and ladders
Ability to walk around power plants for extended periods

Compensation and Benefits
Base Pay Range: $75,000 to $90,000 annual pay based on skills and experience
