Job Description

Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for fabricating and producing prototype and short-run parts on conventional equipment such as lathes and Bridgeport type mills. The role requires good organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Possess knowledge of machining technology, machining and mechanical principles, and high-level skills and techniques.

Plan sequences of machine operation as required using drawings, sketches, or other written or verbal instructions.

Determine cutting tools to be used, methods of holding, and machine speeds and feeds for different materials such as stainless steels, aluminum, brass, and micarta.

Set up tooling and stock to be machined using related equipment. This includes using a right-angle head, rotary table on a sine plate, and computing angular and linear dimensions along with angled and compound angle holes by rotating the mill head as required.

Use a wide variety of precision measuring equipment to inspect own work and validate drawing features for compliance. Deburr and clean parts as required for 1st Article Inspection.

Perform general and preventative maintenance on equipment, including cleaning and lubricating machines and organizing the work areas (5S).

Maintain knowledge of safety practices and procedures when using machines.Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $45.00/hr.
