Job Title: Fabricator

Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for all fabricating tasks based on customer prints, including MIG and TIG welding and working with steel and carbon steel of various gauges from 1/16 inch up to 1/2 inch. They will fabricate weldments and boat frames without any in-house design work. Experience in other metal fabrication processes such as running a Horizontal Band Saw, Drill Press, Lathe, Roller, PEM, Spot Welder, CNC Laser, and Turret Punch Press is highly desirable and adds long-term value to the organization.

Responsibilities

Fabricate parts from customer blueprints.

Perform MIG and TIG welding on steel and carbon steel.

Work with steel gauges ranging from 1/16 inch to 1/2 inch.

Operate various metal fabrication machines including Horizontal Band Saw, Drill Press, Lathe, Roller, PEM, Spot Welder, CNC Laser, and Turret Punch Press.

Follow specific project guidelines and adapt to different types of welding tasks.

Collaborate with a lead fabricator initially and gradually transition to independent work.

Engage in both repetitive and unique fabrication tasks.

Assist with machining tasks such as operating a laser or drill press when required.Essential Skills

Proficient in reading blueprints independently.

Skilled in TIG and MIG welding, preferably on stainless steel and aluminum.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in fabricating.

Possess qualities such as honesty, respect, dignity, and trustworthiness.Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience working in a job fabrication shop with 50 or fewer employees.

Work Environment

This position is based in a wide-open job shop that spans 67,000 square feet, divided into different job areas. The facility includes welding bays, a machining setup, and a paint booth. The work environment is relatively cool, typically ranging from 60-70 degrees, but can be loud when machines are operating, necessitating hearing protection. The smell of paint fumes from the onsite paint booth may be present. This is a 1st shift position with hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday work during busy periods. Typical weekly hours range from 40 to 45.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Allegan, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
