About the job

Our client is looking for a versatile Hardware Engineer to engage in all stages of our product life cycle, including design, production, testing, integration, repairs, and customer support. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about learning about our product line, platform, and existing designs. The Hardware Engineer will concentrate on modernizing older designs, creating new products with improved functionality and integration, and specializing in FPGA design while showing a strong interest in PCB development.

Responsibilities

Perform the design and drafting of new hardware products as required, as well as the design of revisions to existing products.

Capture schematics and design printed circuit boards

Interface with engineers on PCB layout, power distribution and any special considerations

Evaluate vendors and fabricators to assure the best quality and price

Attend weekly engineering meetings and report the status of current projects

Process Engineer Change Requests

Perform the mechanical design of hardware chassis including sheet metal, PCB mounting, hardware installation, selection of color, texture and screening

Provide guidance and interface with production to insure error free assembly

Provide customer support when inquiries are received

Evaluate contract requirements requiring the design of new products and modifications to existing products

Skills & Experience

Experienced in digital circuit design, HDL, and FPGA design software (Actel and Xilinx)

Knowledge of PCB development techniques and software (schematic capture and board layout)

Experience in CAD for designing assembly drawings

Experience with electrical test equipment (logic analyzer, oscilloscope, DMM)

Able to assemble computer chassis

Experience with PCB debugging and rework

Intermediate soldering skills

Familiar with Windows OS, MS Office programs (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook)

Strong technical writing skills

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field is usually required. Advanced positions may require a master’s degree or relevant experience

Must be a highly motivated self-starter, extremely well organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently and follow through

Dedicated to exceeding quality standards and providing products and services of the highest caliber

Strong oral/written communicator

Team player
