Overview:
We are seeking an Assistant Civil Designer to join our team and support the development of a wide range of civil engineering projects. This role involves assisting with planning, proposal preparation, site evaluations, analytical design work, report and specification drafting, and the development of construction and environmental documentation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working on a diverse portfolio of projects and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the design of civil engineering projects including site development, land development, roadway systems, storm drainage, stormwater management, water and sewer utilities, sediment and erosion control, and traffic control.
Assist with airport and facility design projects.
Contribute to drawing production, including layout, calculations, and resolving non-routine design challenges.
Create and refine design components, layout sequences, and presentation formats using standard techniques.
Prepare and revise initial design sketches and project markups.
Analyze maps, reports, topographical and geologic data to support project design planning.
Apply relevant design codes and specifications to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Prepare design drawings in alignment with project scope, budget, and schedule.
Perform volume calculations for excavation, grading, and dredging tasks.
Integrate project schedules, budgets, and design criteria into site layouts and civil plans.
Maintain organized records of design revisions, drawings, and related documentation.
Perform additional duties as required and adhere to company policies and standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Drafting Technology or a related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience or
Associate degree with 3 years of relevant experience
Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in detailing and civil design.
Basic proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Microsoft Excel.
Foundational knowledge of civil engineering design principles, calculations, and systems.
Understanding of other engineering disciplines and their interaction with civil design.
Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail capabilities.
