US Solar is hiring a Design Engineer who will support and assist in the construction of community solar and other Distributed Generation (DG) solar and energy storage projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate and establish project Basis of Design (BOD) including module selection, inverter selection, inverter loading ratios, power factor requirements, string sizing, and ground coverage ratios
Review internally and externally created drawings, RFIs, and submittals for constructability and code-compliance. Responsible for the organization of project documents in internal files
Provide guidance and support to project teams and external engineering teams, by resolving technical issues and weighing the impacts to project risks, performance, and cost
Generate accurate, highly detailed construction drawings; able to design solar PV systems, including single line diagrams, array layouts, and applicable details; use of AutoCAD preferred
Able to evaluate and perform energy performance modeling using PVSyst software
Coordinate with the interconnecting utility as needed to understand conditions at the Point of Interconnect (POI) and assure conformance with utility standards
Deep familiarity with National Electrical code such that designs can be created with minimal review and guidance by PE stamping party
Attend meetings with external parties and participate by creating agendas, recording and distributing meeting minutes, and in establishing permanent record of verbal commitments
In conjunction with the Procurement team, provide guidance on selected equipment and components, and participate in research of new and developing solar PV equipment and related technology

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field applicable to solar PV
Minimum two years in PV Solar design
Experience with BESS design and modeling is preferred but not required
Strong analytical skills with basic knowledge of construction techniques and project management practices
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Current Driver’s License and ability to do minor traveling to project sites
