Your new role

The Electrical Engineering Design Manager will be responsible for establishing and leading the electrical engineering design department within the firm. This role requires an individual who is not only capable of managing a team but also actively involved in hands-on design work.

A primary focus will be on acquiring new clients, building lasting relationships, and ensuring the successful delivery of electrical designs across various sectors. This position offers a base salary plus bonus based on the new clients acquired by the candidate.

Lead and participate in the design of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and sustainable energy systems, using both hands-on design and management.

Oversee and execute design work for complex projects, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to client specifications.

Manage the delivery of high-quality mechanical designs from concept to completion.

Acquire new clients by developing strong relationships with government agencies, property developers, commercial clients, and more.

Lead project teams, ensuring coordination with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to meet deadlines and budgets.

Establish and lead the mechanical engineering design department, defining processes, standards, and building a strong team.

Recruit, mentor, and manage mechanical engineers and technical staff to ensure high performance and development.

Develop and implement best practices, design standards, and workflows for the mechanical engineering department.

Collaborate with other departments to ensure the delivery of integrated solutions.

Establish departmental goals and KPIs, ensuring alignment with overall company objectives.

What you'll need to succeed

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).

Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Florida is required.

Registration as a Professional Engineer in the US is a plus.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering design, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.

Proven ability to acquire new clients and secure contracts.

Extensive experience in hands-on electrical design, not just in a managerial capacity.

Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software commonly used in the industry.

In-depth knowledge of local building codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements in Florida.

Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

A strong background in business development and client management.
