Position Overview
Ultimate Staffing is actively seeking an experienced Import & Export Manager to join their client's team in Union City, CA. This role is essential for overseeing shipping and working with freight forwarders and carriers to ensure compliance with customs and policies in other countries. The Import & Export Manager will also collaborate with purchasing on imports from global markets to support warehouse operations.
Responsibilities
Interpret US Customs, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), and other Government Agency rules and regulations.
Implement, update, and monitor these rules where applicable to business processes.
Ensure legal compliance and provide import/export administration controls within applicable rules, including any licensing.
Determine if licensing is required with various governmental authorizing agencies including BIS, Census Bureaus, State and Treasury HTS classifications.
Manage reporting to BIS for license exceptions and ENC reporting.
Collaborate across the organization, including Sales, Regulatory, Logistics, and Engineering.
Provide accurate information to freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other service providers regarding international taxes and trade tariffs.
Handle issues related to US Customs Regulations.
Provide ECCN (Export Control Classification Number), USHTS (US Harmonized Tariff Schedule) Schedule B Export Codes.
Review, analyze, and evaluate export transactions and make recommendations as necessary to management.
Perform screening of "bill to" and "ship to" addresses to ensure compliance with U.S. government regulations.
Maintain compliant export files to support licensing, customer, and transaction screening and classification determinations.
Conduct periodic departmental training and auditing for import/export compliance.
Ensure export documentation is completed properly with appropriate export classification.
Communicate, coordinate, and train personnel on Boycott and Embargo regulations/requirements.
Conduct site audits for both export and import compliance.
Understand and support internal Quality System policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
BS/BA degree in business with specialization in Supply Chain and Logistics, with at least five years of demonstrated work experience applying import/export regulations.
Minimum of one year of management experience in the medical device industry.
Certification or license in the field of Import and Export Compliance.
Attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees.
Knowledge of Incoterms and export codes, taxes, and tariffs.
Excellent customer focus and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to function calmly in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities.
Experience with domestic and international 3PL for product and distribution strategies.
Strong ability to conduct comprehensive analysis prior to making decisions.
About 10% travel may be required.

Benefits
Competitive salary with a range of $118,000 - $136,000 plus MBO 10%
