Completion of undergraduate core program in education to include student teaching or 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in assessing, researching, designing, developing, evaluating & delivering instruction & associated materials for adult learners;
AND 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in use of software &/or application systems to create & deliver technology-based training (e.g., Articulate; D2L / Brightspace);
AND 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. using Microsoft Word or Wordperfect;
AND 1 yr. trg. or 1 yr. exp. creating web pages using programming languages (e.g., html; dhtml; xml; Javascript; CSS);
AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in web art manipulation programs (e.g., Fireworks; Shockwave; Photoshop).

Within the Office of Organizational Effectiveness, organizes and supports the work related to the Department’s technology-based professional learning efforts\:
Collaborates across Department offices to coordinate the planning, development & design of Department sponsored courses based on theories of adult learning;
Conducts professional learning (training) needs analysis as the process of researching & identifying training needs in a particular function or area in collaboration with the subject-matter experts (SMEs) from that area;
Supports the implementation of a plan for the most effective use of the Learning Management System;
Participates in all phases of the instructional design process including analysis, design, development, review, testing and implementation, and evaluation of technology-based professional learning;
Creates/updates guidance and resource tools for the internal development of high-quality professional learning;
Develops and manages communication plans for the learning management system (LMS);
Maintains detailed records of professional learning lifecycles in the LMS;
Researches, compiles data, analyzes, reviews, interprets, and completes reports regarding the Learning Management System usage;
Performs as the main point of contact for technical assistance through verbal and written formats, providing quality customer service to both internal and external stakeholders;
Builds state and regional capacity to support professional learning in online and hybrid settings;
Performs as a Department system administrator for the D2L Brightspace LMS and the statewide LMS (Cornerstone);
Generates reports from the Department and/or statewide LMS as needed.
Within the Ohio Department of Education works to ensure professional learning includes the implementation of adult learning theory:
Manages currently published courses, the process for updating courses, and ensures that courses are aligned to evidence-based practices;
Ensures professional learning initiatives are implemented in a manner consistent with Ohio’s Standards for Professional Development and adult learning theory;
Ensures professional learning initiatives promote the improvement of student performance and daily practice of educators;
Establishes internal policies and protocol for collaborating with stakeholders (e.g., education service centers) in the identification, creation and implementation of identified professional learning experiences;
Design opportunities for stakeholder input and feedback to evaluate professional learning experience;
Implement data systems to manage work and document stakeholder input;
Ensures professional learning initiatives are implemented in a manner consistent with Ohio’s Standards for Professional Development and adult learning theory.
Creates/updates guidance and resource tools for the most effective use of the Department’s Learning Management System as a means for engaging learners in an online learning system and a hybrid professional learning system (online and face-to-face);
Creates technical and instructional design development criteria based on research and ensures professional development standards are met, as measured by the professional learning Quality Matters rubric.
Performs other related duties as assigned:
Remains current on adult professional learning theories and online learning systems by attending professional conferences and workshops;
Travels statewide for presentations, conferences, trainings, and meetings as appropriate.
The work location of this position is 25 South Front Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215. You will be required to report to this work location full-time, if selected.
If this position is filled with an internal employee who has an approved telework agreement, the employee may be required to report in-person during the initial training period.
