Job Summary
The Giant Eagle Intern Development Program’s Supply Chain intern position is designed to provide college/university students with real world business experience in all facets of the supply chain. The intern will expect to work with leaders throughout the supply chain such as warehouse operations, transportation, and supply chain support. This full-time, paid internship will provide hands-on training and experience in what it takes to ensures a smooth and efficient supply chain that meets the needs of the organization and that of our customers.
Throughout the 10-week internship, you will spend your days experiencing what exactly goes into making sure our stores are supplied with product for our customers, with equal parts learnings, evidence & analytics for Results. A typical day could consist of working on the dock of our Retail Support Centers (RSC), shadowing Team Members behind the scenes or working by yourself on solutions to make the process more efficient. You should expect to work up and down the chain of command to arrive at results to difficulties or struggles within the supply chain. An intern will also see and learn negotiating skills and collaboration with partners inside and outside of the organization for the betterment of the operation.

Public speaking skills as you may be asked to present project findings to building leaders
Interpersonal skills as you interact with union and non-union team members
Supply chain knowledge as you learn the processes and procedures carried out daily
Partnership as you will work with many different leaders in different areas of the business on various projects
Financial acumen as you gain understanding of a warehouse P&L and how daily decisions affect the business financially
Decision making as you work through projects to determine the recommended path forward
Understanding of recruiting and retention processes and challenges
Preparing presentations in different programs and formats
Data analysis to determine points of underperformance within the warehouse operations, collaborating and implementing solutions to those challenges
As a Giant Eagle intern, no two days are the same, but a typical day may include the following:
Spending time shadowing leader and team members
Leading through daily priorities
Working with leadership to set goals and expectations
Collaborating with fellow interns on projects
Delivering an excellent Guest experience
Working with leaders to understand business reporting and Guest insights
Actively participating in internship training activities, development opportunities, and events
Foster a safe, diverse, and inclusive culture

Are a college or university student with at least 1 year of university experience
Are studying supply chain management
Possess a strong interest in working in a warehouse setting or retail shared services (corporate roles)
Have previous retail/warehouse experience (preferred, but not required)
Quickly learn and adapt to current technology trends and needs
Work well independently and as a part of a team
Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
Utilize effective communication skills
