Job Description
Posistion: Delivery Driver/Warehouse Associate
Reports to: Distribution Manager
Candidates must be able to lift 50- 75 lbs unassisted.
Mission: Complete deliveries in a timely and courteous manner. Deliver furniture to
customers, in the same condition in which it left the warehouse. All efforts work
toward attaining the organization’s overall goals and objectives of maximum sales
and profitability while ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Job Responsibilities:
Inspect and prepare all items before delivery and as they are being loaded on the truck.
In doing so you are certifying that all goods are without blemish or damage when going
on the delivery truck.
Load and unload furniture as directed by the Distribution Manager.
Secure all merchandise on the truck against movement, shifting and damage due to
transport. Special attention should be paid to tie down strapping, corners, glass and
fabrics.
Behave courteously toward customers and make deliveries in a timely manner, as
directed by the Distribution Manager (Please, Thank you, May I, etc.).
Report all concerns, problems or damages that occur on delivery to the Distribution
Manager immediately. The driver or lead assistant should be prepared to debrief the
Distribution Manager upon returning to the warehouse as to the suspected cause and
resolution of issues leading to merchandise damage.
Ensure the customer or customer representative has signed and dated all delivery
tickets and we have left the customer with all warranty information and comment cards
for the delivery process.
Carry tool kit on truck at all times for assembly or repair.
Notify Distribution Manager immediately when additional tools are needed, existing
tools break, or tools are missing.
Place all tools back in storage at the end of each stop so they can be found and are
ready for use at subsequent stops.
Insure that before each delivery cycle, the truck has the following items present and
ready for use on the truck:
a. Steamer
b. Ample sets of clean gloves for moving furniture
c. Glass cleaner and furniture polish (all furniture is to be wiped down once in place
at the install).
d. e. Appropriate tools for any assemble to be encountered on the installs for that day
A hand truck to assist in furniture movementf. A furniture dolly to assist in furniture movement
g. Paper towels
h. Shout wipes for dirt on fabrics
i. Drill with fresh battery.
j. First aid supplies/kit
Insure that at the end of each or before the beginning of the next delivery cycle begins,
the truck is reset in the following manner:
a. All delivery paperwork is handed to or placed on the Distribution Manager’s
desk.
b. All garbage (cardboard broken down and plastic/foam consolidated in bags) is
removed from the interior of the box unit.
c. d. The truck is completely swept out of all freight dust and loose dirt or foam.
All tie down straps are removed from the slat walls, sort by size and hung back in
the designated location for the straps at the end of the truck.
e. All tools are back in their designated locations. If tools need to be replaced the
Distribution Manager should be told the night before so he/she can have the
replacement on the truck before the next delivery cycle.
f. All garbage (empty bottles, food wrappers, miscellaneous trash) are removed
from the cab of the truck.
Operations/Administration:
Dress in the manner prescribed by the Distribution Manager. Wear designated
uniform. Shirt tails tucked in and no sagging pants. No open toed shoes. No shirts or
hats with logos other than SummerHouse logo are allowed.
Report to work at the times designated by the Distribution Manager.
Communicate in an effective and timely manner any and all issues related to delivery
concerns, damages, repairs or merchandise transfer from store to warehouse or
warehouse to the store.
Assist with the maintenance of the warehouse and equipment as needed.
Check all fluid levels, air levels and overall appearance of the delivery vehicles daily.
Notify the Distribution Manager when these need to be addressed or when new issues
arise.
Maintain a valid Class D CDL license and current DOT physical.
Follow company policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.
Perform duties as required.
As needed duties as assigned by the Distribution Manager.
Pre-employment Background Check, Random drug testing and quarterly MVR checks will be performed.
Full-time
