Title: Chief Marketing Officer
Reports to: President/CEO
Supervises: Marketing Manager, Brand & Graphic Design Coordinator
Status: Exempt
Objective
The Chief Marketing Officer is responsible for coordinating and directing marketing functions and for the formulation, development, and implementation of Credit Union marketing goals and objectives. This individual participates in the inception and development of new services and products based on perceived member needs. The Chief Marketing Officer organizes and directs the Marketing Department and ensures that marketing projects are well coordinated and complement the strategic objectives of the Credit Union.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leads the strategic planning and execution of Marketing functions:
Assists Senior Management with long and short-term strategic planning
Develops and implements marketing plans, strategies, and programs for all Credit Union services and products
Executes established goals and ensures that corporate-wide plans are complemented and supported
Ensures the effectiveness and integrity of Marketing programs:
Ensures that the quality and integrity of Marketing programs and activities are maintained
Ensures that Marketing functions are carried forward in accordance with established Credit Union procedures
Conducts periodic reviews of existing Marketing activities; provides recommendations regarding improvements in delivery mechanisms, public relations, and new products and services
Ensures regulatory compliance as it relates to development of products and services and delivery mechanisms
Evaluates the Marketing Department's effectiveness through analysis of Department activity, new account data, and member statistics
Oversees the efficient administration of Marketing activities:
Establishes and implements organizational structure, policies, and procedures
Develops and monitors budgets; manages and oversees expenses
Ensures that Marketing functions are well coordinated with branch operations and with related departments; provides assistance as required
Keeps Senior Management informed of Marketing activities, progress toward established objectives, and of any significant problems
Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required
Completes required reports and documents
Attends KEMBA’s Board of Directors Meetings to offer insight and information on KEMBA’s marketing programs
Supervises and develops Marketing personnel for optimal performance:
Provides leadership to Marketing personnel through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication; conducts staff meetings as required; directs, schedules, and coordinates Department functions
Ensures that personnel are well trained, effective, and optimally used; instructs personnel regularly regarding policy, procedure, and program changes
Conducts performance appraisals as required; formulates and implements corrective actions as needed; recommends changes in the status of Marketing staff, including promotions, transfers, and salary adjustments
Ensures that staffing levels are appropriate and that human resources are effectively utilized; conducts interviews and assists with hiring personnel as needed
Assists and supports Marketing personnel
Maintains professional relationships with members, vendors, and industry partners:
Ensures that the Credit Union's professional reputation is maintained throughout the organization and the community
Ensures that requests and questions are promptly resolved
Ensures excellence in external marketing programs and promotional activities
Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned:
Stays informed of developments and trends within the Credit Union industry that may affect marketing and advertising
Completes special projects as assigned
Other Duties:
Performs all duties in a manner that is fully compliant with applicable industry regulations as well as KEMBA policy and procedures
Develops an understanding of Credit Union history, philosophy, organization, policies, and operational procedures
On a self-direct basis, continues to improve individual level of competency through training and certification on established educational programs
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
Eight to ten years’ experience of related progressive marketing experience, preferably in a financial environment
A minimum of five years’ experience managing and leading others at a higher level
Forward thinker, with demonstrated decision making ability
Exceptional critical thinking and organizational skills, outstanding
Strong background in financial marketing and promotion techniques
Solid PC skills (Windows environment)
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and supervisory abilities
