Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing efficiency and productivity through process optimization, equipment validation, data analysis, and innovation. Lead projects supporting new product development, process enhancements, and system upgrades across all global facilities including Boone, Iowa; Feilding, New Zealand; and collection site operations.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Process Engineering (or related field)
3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role
Experience with process optimization, equipment validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), and technical transfers.
Familiarity with process control systems and manufacturing environments
Proficiency in CAD
Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to domestic and international sites as needed; up to 10% annually.
Preferred:
Experience supporting multi-site/global engineering initiatives.
Knowledge of regulatory standards for food, pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing.
Proficiency in project management tools.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recommend and implement process improvements for efficiency, cost reduction, and energy savings
Troubleshoot equipment and process issues in collaboration with plant teams
Support trials and new product development with R&D and plant personnel
Lead or contribute to capital and expansion projects across global sites
Write/revise SOPs and support batch record preparation, as needed.
Conduct ROI evaluations and submit project proposals including preparation and submission of capital expenditure requests for approval
Coordinate with QA for process and cleaning validations (IQ/OQ/PQ)
Oversee contractors and negotiate engineering service agreements
Collaborate with the Safety Team to maintain high safety standards during changes
Promote understanding of food/chemical processing and engineering best practices
Identify opportunities for automation, streamlining, and training
Develop and implement productivity metrics at key process points

SKILLS:
Strong foundation in chemical engineering or food processing, particularly in unit operations (e.g., heating, evaporation, centrifugation, drying, fluid transport)
Knowledge of equipment selection and evaluation for food, nutraceutical/pharma, or chemical industries
Hands-on understanding of plant operations; able to work extended hours when necessary
Skilled in data analysis, troubleshooting, and applying critical thinking
Detail-oriented with strong documentation and technical presentation abilities
Effective communicator across technical and non-technical teams
Independent yet collaborative, with a strong sense of accountability
Innovative thinker with a focus on efficiency and cost savings
Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
Familiarity with workplace health and safety standards
