Post Doctoral Researcher to pursue continued research experience and training within the Department of Neuroscience; conducts independent research under the guidance of his/her scientific mentor to investigate the epigenetic, transcriptional, molecular mechanisms of axon regeneration/degeneration.
Key responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth research with independence
Design and lead your research project, but with sufficient guidance and mentoring
Direct the work of small research teams
Ensure the validity and reliability of data
Maintain accurate and complete records
Write reports for submission to research sponsors
Present findings to colleagues and at conferences
Submit publications to high-impact refereed journal
Collaborate with team members to analyze and integrate different kinds of transcriptomics, epigenomics, and proteomics data.
Engage in collaborative projects within the lab and across the scientific community, contributing to lab meetings, journal clubs, and collaborative publications.
Assist in the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research students and research assistants
Ability to attract external research funding
Attend relevant workshops and conferences
Develop contacts and research collaborations within the College and the wider community
Promote the reputation of the Group, the Department, and the College
Participate in developing and managing grant budget
Monitor expenses
Experience and Qualifications Required and/or Desired:
PhD or equivalent degree required; Significant experience in cellular and RNA biology and bioinformatics are required. Experience with animal work preferred. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
