Summary
The individual will utilize the engineering principles of soil and rock mechanics, geology and construction to understand their effects on the physical environment.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil, geotechnical, or related engineering degree
2-5 years of experience working as a Geotechnical Engineer
PE certification required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience with geotechnical subsurface investigations and foundations assessments
Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work in a team as well as on their own
Ability to complete design work using CAD or manual drafting techniques
gINT geotechnical engineering software experience preferred
Familiarity with different geographical regions
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Functions
Manage client projects to include correspondence to clients, problem resolution, and final reports to meet required deadlines
Monitor geotechnical site characterization activities, including setting up subcontracts with drillers, testing laboratories etc.
Perform geotechnical site characterization activities, logging of geotechnical field explorations, as well as coordination of field and laboratory testing
Prepare geotechnical data and more complex geotechnical recommendation reports
Perform geotechnical analyses. Assist with drawing, specification, and cost-estimate preparation
Perform calculations using engineering formulas
Supervise and mentor lower level technical staff, field and/or drill crews and Geotechnical Engineer I and II’s
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be at site locations on the ground, sit, stand, walk, use both hands, and reach and raise items above the head, use fingers to feel and handle, talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel and crouch, lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
Work Environment
Approximately 25% performed in an external environment, on-site, outdoors, exposed to the elements of nature working under normal construction conditions. Approximately 75% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions.
