JOB SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse personally administers nursing care to patients/residents and/or plans, directs and coordinates the nursing care of a group of patients/residents via the nursing process and in collaboration with the health team. The Registered Nurse also instructs patients/residents and/or families in procedures, healthcare practices and continuing care after discharge. The RN performs duties and responsibilities in a manner adhering to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures and in compliance with the Indiana State Nurse Practice Act. May be assigned charge responsibilities for the area.

The RN is qualified to perform a nursing intervention defined as administration of moderate sedation (conscious sedation) and can monitor the patient's response and provide necessary physiological support during a diagnostic or therapeutic procedure.The RN will receive initial education on hire in moderate sedation and will have an annual competency.

MANDATORY LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

The following licenses/certifications are required:

CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation)

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); Registered Nurse (RN)

ADDITIONAL LICENSURE/CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:ACLS within one (1) year of hire to ER PALS within two (2) years of hire to ER.

ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
