The Department of Classics, within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks an Academic Program Services Specialist to join our team. The Classics Department at Ohio State University is devoted to the study of the languages of Greek and Latin, and the study of literature, and cultures of Greece and Rome. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. The College hosts 81 majors. The Academic Program Services Specialist will provide administrative and programmatic support for undergraduate and graduate programs and serve as the primary contact for prospective students, current students, faculty, and staff. This includes communicating with current and prospective undergraduate majors/minors, assist students with registering for classes and assist with troubleshooting registration issues such as holds, run degree audit reports, and assist the Director of Undergraduate Studies with academic advising, outreach, recruitment, and coordinating undergraduate student events.

They will manage the admissions process, which will include working with the Admissions Office and the Graduate School, processing graduate student admissions applications, facilitate decisions regarding fellowship nominations for incoming students, and coordinate graduate recruitment by scheduling interviews, booking travel, and planning itineraries for prospective graduate students. They will also coordinate MA exams, candidacy exams, and PhD defenses, coordinate forms and paperwork for the graduate program, statistical reporting, processing travel and research expenditures for Graduate Associates (GAs), update the undergraduate and graduate student handbooks when needed, and provide information to faculty, graduate studies chair, and graduate students. They will process reimbursements for Graduate Associates (GAs) research and travel expenditures.

They will also serve at the primary department contact for curriculum and assessment. They will be responsible for arranging teaching assignments and course scheduling for the department, manage general education (GE) curriculum assessments and data collection, and prepare reports to assist faculty with submitting annual assessment plans and results. They will also assist faculty in oversight and development of the department’s undergraduate curriculum and in preparing new courses for approval. The Academic Program Services Specialist will also manage the department’s website, social media networking sites, department calendars, and email distribution lists. They will be responsible for creating promotional and communications materials for distribution to the university community.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications

A minimum of two years of relevant experience. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook) and electronic forms.

Desired Experience:

Experience in higher education, recruiting, and/or admissions highly desired; knowledge of OSU Graduate School policies and procedures; experience with university systems (Workday, SIS); excellent oral and written communication skill; ability to multi-task, and work both independently and collaboratively. Ability to build relationships with building and office management and deal with conflict.

Additional Information:

The pay range for this job profile is $22.69 - $29.83. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
