The host/hostess will welcome guests in a warm and friendly manner and take them to their seats. They will manage the seating chart and monitor restaurant activity to determine seating and dining flow. They will respond to guests’ inquiries in a timely and efficient manner.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Set up restaurant using opening checklist provided
• Walk guests to their assigned tables, provide menus and let them know who their server will be
• Water table if server is tied up
• Review reservation times, number of covers and adjust if necessary by calling guests
• Review cover count per server and keep track throughout shift
• Review shifts for week ahead, assign reservations to tables
• Confirmation of all reservations
• Listen and respond to all voicemails left
• Bus and reset tables as needed during service
• Communicate 86’d items to staff and erase specials board
• Have an understanding all menu items
• Run food to guests if needed
• Polish glassware and silverware during service if time permits
• Polish glassware and silverware once the last reservation is seated
• Check bathrooms throughout shift and clean if necessary
• Keep all candles clean and free of wax buildup
• Keep all plants watered
• Close using checklist provided
