The backwait maintains the flow of orders from servers to the kitchen to the diners, ensuring orders are completed quickly and correctly, assisting with finishing touches on dishes and conducting quality control on each dish. They are also responsible for delivering food from the kitchen to the dining room.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Set up the kitchen for service using checklist provided
• Keep track of times of all tickets and inform chef and management of tickets times prior to them getting too long
• Communicate 86’s items to all staff and keep board updated
• Communicating with kitchen on order of tickets, plates that are needed for upcoming dishes and what is needed
• Extensive menu knowledge and passing of menu test
• Plating desserts
• Shucking oysters
• Not sending out food that is not 100% correct
• Knowing table and seat numbers & passing of floor chart test
• Moving clean plates from dish room to kitchen and polishing prior to putting away
• Polishing glasses and silver ware during slower times in the kitchen
• Clearing tables when delivering food
• Handling guests request
• Handling allergies per policy
• Keeping pass clean during service
• Checking bathrooms and cleaning during service
• During down time walking restaurant clearing tables as needed
• Close down the kitchen using checklist provided
Qualifications
Motivated to do what is necessary to keep the restaurant clean
Dedicated to working as a team towards one goal
Great organizational skills
Proven work experience in a back of house role is a plus
