Position Summary

The Sanitation Operator is responsible for executing cleaning and sanitation tasks throughout the manufacturing facility to ensure equipment, tools, and work areas meet regulatory and company hygiene standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant environment to support food/product safety and operational efficiency.

Key Skills Required

Accurately follows sanitation procedures and ensures all equipment and areas meet cleanliness standards.

Consistently adheres to safety procedures and proactively identifies potential hazards.

Understands how to safely use cleaning equipment, tools, and chemicals; able to disassemble and sanitize machinery properly.

Prioritize tasks effectively to complete cleaning schedules within designated timeframes.

Reliable and punctual; consistently follows through on responsibilities and daily assignments.

Works cooperatively with others in a fast-paced environment and supports production goals.

Adjusts to changes in cleaning routines, shift schedules, or production priorities.

Clearly reports sanitation findings, equipment issues, or safety concerns to appropriate personnel.

Take proactive steps to improve sanitation processes and maintain facility cleanliness without constant supervision.

Maintains high standards for GMP, HACCP, and other regulatory or company-specific sanitation requirements.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Sanitize Equipment, Tools, and Facility Surfaces

Clean and sanitize production equipment, food contact tools, and facility surfaces per procedures and schedules, ensuring all areas meet cleanliness standards.

Disassemble, Reassemble, and Inspect Equipment

Safely disassemble and reassemble machinery for deep cleaning and conduct pre-operational inspections to verify sanitation before production.

Follow Safety Protocols and Handle Chemicals Properly

Use cleaning chemicals according to SDS and safety guidelines while adhering to GMP, safety, and quality standards.

Document Sanitation Activities and Communicate Issues

Accurately complete sanitation logs and promptly report equipment or sanitation concerns to supervisors or maintenance.

Support Compliance and Inventory

Assist during audits or inspections and help track sanitation supply inventory, reporting shortages as needed.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED

Ability to read, understand, and follow safety and sanitation procedures

Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe handling practices

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

Ability to complete written documentation and sanitation logs accurately

1- 3 years of experience in sanitation or janitorial work, especially in a manufacturing or food processing environment
