WHO WE ARE

The Salty is an artisan donut shop that focuses on chef-made, craft donuts that rotate based on seasonality. We use nothing but the highest quality ingredients and make everything in house! Naturally, we don’t use any artificial ingredients in anything we make, because, well - that’s gross! If we wouldn’t serve it to our own family, we definitely wouldn’t serve it to yours! Coffee? Yep! We serve Intelligentsia Coffee and have crafted a coffee menu that pleases all palettes. Lastly, to what makes The Salty- The Salty, is our obsession with guest service. Today’s day and age it’s so easy to get lost in your phone, lost in the madness of the world, so we try to create an environment that is an escape from that hazy life. A place that you know as a guest you’ll receive a positive consistent donut and experience each time. This obsession all starts with you.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Salty is a fast-paced, team-oriented operation both in the back and front of the house. The primary focus of our company’s management team is to lead by example, inspire, effectively and openly communicate and be collaborative with the rest of their team. There’s no “I” @ The Salty. There’s nothing that anyone is “too qualified” to do. We’re all working with the same intentions and for the same goal, which is to make The Salty not only the most delicious donut shop around, but also a benchmark in the F&B industry when it comes to experiential food and beverage. Ambitious? You bet! Impossible? Nope! - Now let’s get to work and absolutely CRUSH it!

THE JOB

The Salty’s Pastry Cooks are responsible for all aspects of the donut process from beginning to end. From making dough, frying, decorating, prepping and everything in between. Pastry Cooks work directly with the Pastry Chef and Sous Chef who will direct them everyday on quantities and pars. Pastry Cooks must be extremely organized and familiar with working with large batch recipes, and also have attention to detail. Our training is structured so that our Pastry Cooks build a strong product-knowledge foundation, gain exceptional skills, and learn to handle many different situations that may arise within our kitchen.

About You

You are someone that is willing to put massive amounts of love, care and dedication into creating the world's most beautiful donuts! This candidate will have the opportunity to flourish and grow as we continue to expand each year! We want someone who isn’t about that typical restaurant life!

Previous kitchen experience is a plus, but not required – we’ll teach you everything you need to know!

What You’ll Do

A Salty Pastry Cook/Decorator you will learn all aspects of the Kitchen

Dough mixing

Cutting, Proofing, Frying Dough

Decorating

Prep

Decorate donuts and other pastry items by following company standards and instructions laid out by the company

Cut, proof and Fry various types of dough per company standards and instructions laid out by the Pastry Chef

Mix dough for the production assigned to specifications of recipes

Follow the production schedule given each day

Scale and prepare recipes

Communicating with Pastry Chef, Sous Chef and Kitchen Leads about donut numbers and quality throughout the day

Visually identify quality or bad product before and after it is mixed. Removes unacceptable product

Ensure cleanliness of work areas including but not limited to tables, shelves, microwaves, mixers, and floors

Ensure maintenance of equipment and tools used daily and report any malfunctions to the Executive Pastry Chef immediately

Complete and submit cleaning checklists at designated times

Other related responsibilities as assigned
