About this Opportunity
Responsible for the daily care of all animals including cleaning and disinfection of kennels and runs to provide a healthy environment for the animals in our care. This position also provides daily exercise, enrichment, and behavioral evaluations of animals.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Cleans and disinfects kennels and animal shelter runs daily.
Feeds and waters animals daily.
Observes and documents animals’ appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease and discontent daily. Notifies management of any concerning or dangerous behavior.
Utilize animal handling skills to provide a safe and humane environment for all animals.
Exercises dogs and provides enrichment to all animals.
Properly stocks and organizes all animal holding rooms as well as storage rooms.
Washes and dries laundry items. Washes and sterilizes bowls, toys, or other items.
Maintains equipment used to complete job assignments and keeps such equipment and tools in good working condition. Notifies management of any repairs needed or new equipment necessary to adequately complete assignments.
Performs grounds maintenance, including shoveling snow, cleaning up trash and animal waste.
Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures and safety practices.
Supports continuous process improvement initiatives.
Thoroughly cleans and disinfects of all areas in shelter.
Maintains regular and consistent attendance at work.
Ability to lift 50lbs
Performs related work as required.
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma (or GED equivalent)
Reliable work attendance
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populationsDesired Experience
One year of experience in an animal shelter, rescue, or veterinary clinic performing kennel operations and monitoring animal behaviorRequired Licenses or Certifications
Valid Driver’s License
Must successfully complete NCIC background check, polygraph and be fingerprinted upon acceptance of offer of employmentOther Required Qualifications
Must be able to lift 50lbs
