The Opportunity:

Mastodon Design, a division of CACI, is looking to hire a Scientist specializing in Digital Signal Processing and FPGA development for its Rochester, NY location. We are seeking a candidate with a proven history of success in both the design and efficient implementation of DSP algorithms. Ideal candidates will have 10+ years of development experience with a focus on embedded platforms.

Mastodon Design specializes in the design and manufacture of signals intelligence and electronic warfare solutions for the tactical edge. We focus on fielding solutions that meet or exceed the mission needs of our customers in both performance and SWaP. Our expertise allows us to rapidly evolve a product portfolio of rugged software-defined radio and mission computing platforms, driven by embedded firmware and application-level software to detect, localize and exploit RF signals as well as generate transmit effects.

Responsibilities:

Work with business leadership to identify product portfolio technical gaps and development opportunities

Assist in the development of technical white papers and proposals

Design and implement signal processing algorithms to address technical gaps and meet product requirements

Work with platform hardware and software engineers to ensure the implemented system meets performance expectations

Provide guidance and leadership to junior members of the development team

Qualifications:

Required:

Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar field

10+ years of relevant experience

Experience with DSP algorithm modeling and simulation in Python, MATLAB or similar

Ability to efficiently implement DSP algorithms for FPGAs in VHDL and/or Verilog

Experience with constraints management, and the ability to debug complex FPGA designs

Experience with real-time embedded HW & SW systems and RF systems

Experience with fielded communications systems and waveform development; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems; and/or electronic warfare (EW) systems

Ability to work with electrical/hardware engineers to produce integrated products and solutions

Basic fluency with and ability to develop in an embedded Linux environment

Ability to provide guidance and direction to junior developers

Technical requirements development and validation, and on-air testing

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

Desired:

Experience with AI and/or ML algorithm development

Experience with efficient implementation of DSP algorithms on ARM and/or RISC processors

Embedded programming experience in C, C++ (>= ’11) and/or Python

Experience with device drivers, bootloaders, and low-level firmware

Working understanding of RF design principles

Ability to guide challenging technical projects to a successful outcome

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is: $104,200-$229,200
