Job Description
As a forklift operator, you will be responsible for safely handling and transporting metal and steel materials using forklifts, cranes, and other equipment. You will manage inventory, ensure quality control, prepare materials for shipment, maintain equipment, comply with safety regulations, and collaborate with other departments.
Responsibilities
Safely handle and transport metal and steel materials using forklifts, cranes, and other equipment.
Track and record inventory levels, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
Inspect materials for defects and ensure they meet quality standards before processing.
Prepare and package materials for shipment according to customer specifications.
Perform routine maintenance on material handling equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
Work closely with other departments to coordinate material handling and inventory management.Essential Skills
Proficiency in forklift operation, including the ability to maneuver in tight spaces.
Strong spatial awareness to judge distances and navigate through narrow aisles.
Skill in balancing and securing loads to prevent tipping and ensure safe transport.
Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries.
Precision in handling materials and following instructions to avoid damage and errors.
Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues during operation.
Effective communication skills to coordinate movements and ensure smooth operations.
Understanding of routine maintenance procedures to keep the forklift in good working condition.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency in operating cranes.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. consistently and build pallets by hand.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent organizational skills.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Basic computer skills for inventory tracking.

Work Environment
You will work in a physically demanding environment, regularly required to lift and move heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and operate machinery. Safety measures include the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. The role involves exposure to high noise levels from machinery and equipment. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $37440.00/yr.
