Job Description
We are seeking a skilled machinist to set up and operate CNC lathes and mills to perform various machining operations such as turning, boring, threading, facing, and more on metallic parts including cast iron, stainless steel, brass, bronze, carbon steels, or non-metallic parts such as plastic or Teflon. The machinist will work according to specifications, tooling instructions, and knowledge of machining procedures, ensuring precision and adherence to tolerances.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills to perform machining operations.
Work according to specifications, tooling instructions, and knowledge of machining procedures.
Read prints and factory work orders for specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cuts, and cutting tools.
Position and secure tooling set-up.
Insert workpiece into position and secure it by methods such as mounting between centers, inserting in chuck, or clamping to face plate.
Select method of holding workpiece, which may include making arbor/jaws.
Adjust controls to set cutting speed and feed rate and to position tool in relation to workpiece and run machine.
Verify machined workpiece for correct specifications to tolerances as close as .001 using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and depth gauges.
Procure first piece inspection approval.
Keep machine clean and lubricated, maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
Perform duties in accordance with company safety policies and report unsafe conditions.Essential Skills
Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints.
Competency in the use of calipers, micrometers, indicators, and various other measuring instruments.
1 or more years of experience in the set up and operation of CNC mills and/or lathes.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with programming and operating CNC machines such as Haas, Fanuc, and Mazak.
Experience with shipping and receiving, inspection, and press brake.
Knowledge of machining procedures and the ability to work with various materials.Why Work Here?

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jackson, Michigan.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.50/hr.
