DOT Safety Manager

Southern Development & Construction, Inc was established in 1994 and is a growing private contractor concentrating on complete site development services (underground utility, earthwork, and paving) in the Central Florida area for subdivisions, apartments, commercial and public projects. We are seeking a DOT Safety Manager. The ideal candidate is responsible for complying with DOT regulations and promotes a safe working environment, focusing on transportation safety, driver qualifications, and accident prevention.

Responsibilities:

· Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local DOT regulations related to transportation safety.

· Stay up-to-date on changes in DOT regulations and ensure the company's compliance.

· Manage the company's DOT drug and alcohol testing program.

· Provide training and education to drivers on regulations and safe driving practices.

· Develop and implement safety policies and procedures.

· Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.

· Investigate accidents and incidents and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

· Promote a strong safety culture within the company.

· Develop and communicate safety information to employees.

· Assist in the development and implementation of safety training programs.

· Perform re-training with drivers who have been “at fault” for a preventable incident or accident.

· Monitor our Fleet camera/gps system for violations.

· Respond in person to company vehicle accidents in order to document the situation.

Skills and Qualifications:

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and training skills.

Valid FL Driver license

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Experience in safety management, particularly in the transportation or construction industry.

Familiarity with safety management systems and software.

Ability to conduct investigations and develop corrective actions.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
