Fully remote position – teaching assignment is determined by enrollment each semester
$120 per student/per semester
Start date: August 12, 2025
Required Qualifications:
State of Michigan secondary teaching certification required with an endorsement of American Sign Language (FS) or Deaf and Hard of Hearing (SL)
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Commitment to educational excellence
Curricular knowledge consistent with American Sign Language
Preferred Qualifications:
Successful teaching or student teaching experience at the secondary level
Strong instructional technology experience (preferably within an LMS)
Responsibilities:
Participate in professional development for successful online teaching & learning
Review the standards within the online course(s) and post a pacing guide/calendar for students to follow
Prepare weekly announcements, grade student work, and provide student feedback throughout each week
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and mentor teachers
Provide a supportive online teacher presence
Host weekly live instructional sessions for each course during school hours
Monitor student academic progress
Follow academic support plans
Assist in supporting virtual attendance requirements during State of Michigan “count” days
Attend virtual parent-teacher conferences
Uphold all JIA Instructor Handbook expectations
