Title: Controls Engineer

Shift: Full Time, 8am-4:30pm

Salary: $40-$43/hr + OT

Controls Engineer Role:

As a Controls Engineer, you will provide specialized technical expertise in the application and use of control and automation technology. You will serve as a lead discipline engineer on single or multi-discipline projects, generating control schematics, panel layouts, and bills of material using AutoCAD Electrical. You will also program PLCs and HMIs, support field commissioning, and integrate control systems for advanced equipment.

Controls Engineer Responsibilities:

Create electrical schematics for control systems, including power, control, and I/O wiring and interconnect diagrams

Select and size control system components in a cost-effective manner

Develop assembly schematics, including panel and enclosure layouts and assembly templates

Generate electrical customer manuals for each machine

Write and debug PLC and HMI software

Set up servo motors and variable frequency drives (VFDs)

Perform software debugging and troubleshooting

Integrate control systems into networks

Travel domestically and internationally for service calls (5-10% travel required)

Perform basic field commissioning and start-up of process control systems

Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations

Process engineering releases (PORs and POCs) in a timely manner

Understand and follow company processes and procedures

Controls Engineer Reporting Relationships:

Reports to: Controls Engineering Manager

Direct Reports: None

About You:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (Controls, Automation, or related field preferred)

2-3 years of experience in Controls or Automation Engineering required; 3-10 years preferred

Proficient in PLC and HMI programming software

Competent with 2D AutoCAD Electrical

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Self-disciplined with a high sense of urgency

Strong problem-solving skills

Ability to work collaboratively with teams and independently

Computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Robotics experience is a plus

Professional attitude and ability to represent the company with integrity

Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally (5-10%)
