Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

We’re currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our talented team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative, custom automation equipment in a collaborative and hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with Project Managers and team members to evaluate project requirements and generate design concepts

Design safe, cost-effective machines and assemblies using SolidWorks

Create detailed part and assembly drawings, including tolerancing, for release to the machine shop

Provide machine shop support and troubleshoot manufacturing questions

Specify and order purchased components (e.g., pneumatic systems, bearings, motors, drives, sensors)

Maintain accurate bill of materials and support purchasing

Work closely with Assembly, Electrical, and Software teams throughout the design/ build process

Qualifications

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience

Minimum of 2 years of mechanical design experience

Strong grasp of materials, finishes, machining, and mechanical drafting standards

Familiarity with electrical and pneumatic systems

Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks strongly preferred) and 2D CAD a plus

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Experience in factory automation or machinery design is a strong plus

Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently or part of a team
