Job Description
Role Overview
NJ Manufacturing Recruiting has an immediate need for a Project Engineer to design and develop new products, components, and manufacturing processes, and to provide technical assistance to the CTO in PTI’s R&D and manufacturing programs. Duties include Initial design creation, modeling, analysis, engineering, prototyping, iterative development, vendor selection and coordination, engineering documentation, and supporting implementation of novel designs and processes.
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for mechanical design and manufacturing and experience in managing internal and external resources. We seek a hands-on problem solver, a team player, and someone comfortable within an innovative, fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions
Design: Design and development of new and novel injection molded polymeric and metallic components, assemblies, and products utilizing design for manufacturing (DFM) principles in addition to manufacturing processes, cells, automation, fixtures, and tooling design and development.
Analysis: Perform requirements analysis, research new materials/technology/processes to meet requirements—manufacturing process optimization. Apply DFM to assess parts and assemblies for moldability and producibility, and recommend design modifications in relation to plastic, metal, and ceramic injection molding processes.
Project Management: Technical management of outside vendors, contractors, consultants, and clients. Lead and coordinate multiple functional groups to solve and execute complex development and manufacturing projects. Create project timelines and manage task schedules and completion.
Skills and Qualifications

Fluency in CAD design using SolidWorks or ProE
Hands-on experience in mechanical design and development of parts, products, plastic over-molded assemblies, injection molded plastic and metal components, or additive manufacturing, preferably for the Aerospace, Medical Device, Industrial, and/or Defense sectors.
Knowledge of manufacturing process development, injection molding, tool and mold design, and automation.
Familiar with machine shop operations: turning, milling, EDM, and CNC machining operations.
Fluency in engineering drawings, including application and interpretation of GD&T.
Excellent project management and organizational skills. Program management is a plus.Company Description
