Serenity Hospice Care is looking for an organized and analytic Insurance Verification Coordinator to join our team! This position will be responsible for verifying and processing insurance information for our patients. This role is crucial in ensuring a smooth and efficient administrative process in the healthcare setting. This position will work closely with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to confirm coverage and ensure accurate billing, contributing to the overall success of our organization.
Responsibilities:
Verify and confirm insurance coverage and eligibility for patients scheduled for medical procedures or appointments.
Contact insurance companies to obtain pre-authorization for medical services as required.
Update patient information accurately in the electronic health records (EHR) system.
Communicate with patients to explain their insurance coverage and any financial responsibilities.
Collaborate with billing and coding departments to ensure accurate and timely claim submission.
Resolve insurance-related issues and discrepancies promptly.
Stay current with changes in insurance regulations and guidelines.
Provide excellent customer service to patients, addressing their insurance-related inquiries and concerns.
Maintain strict confidentiality and adherence to all privacy regulations, including HIPAA.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Must have a least one of year of experience with insurance in a medical office setting!
Prior hospice experience a plus!
Must be familiar with submitting authorizations via phone, fax and portals.
Proven experience working with New Jersey-based insurance payors and portals (Horizon NJ Health, BCBS, etc.).
Familiarity with out-of-state payors
Ability to stay current with payor policy changes and adapt accordingly.
Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, mostly in Excel.
Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
Reliable transportation and valid drivers license.
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
Organized and self motivated.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in a similar role within the healthcare industry.
Knowledge of billing codes and insurance terminology.
