Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Software Engineer – Regional Applications System Architect / Product Owner to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives.

C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier globally and regionally. Networks integrate and synchronize autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

The selected candidate will serve as the Product Team Product Owner for the C2BMC System Architecture Product Team. The candidate will be responsible for driving value delivery for the SA applications, as part of a complex missile defense command and control system.

Essential Functions:

Specify stakeholders need to drive the frequent delivery of value to the customer

Coordinate and prioritize needs for multiple Task Orders

Contribute to the overall C2BMC Program Roadmap

Assess progress and report status to Leadership

Support the accomplishment of Earned Value Management by working closely with the CAMs, providing the required information to assess EV performance and assist with variances and ETCs.

Act as the technical interface with the Government

Manage stakeholder expectations

Work with other Product Teams and ARTs to plan and execute C2BMC releases

Interface with the Run Ahead, Platform & Infrastructure, Networks, and other technical leadership Teams and communicate priorities to the Product Team - Support preparation and presentation of briefings and demonstrations to customers

Lead and manage cross-functional teams in the development and integration of large, complex software applications

Perform stakeholder management in a large, complex Development program

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of experience, or a PhD and 4 years of experience, or 12 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.

Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs

Proven leadership experience with full life cycle development on large, integrated DoD systems, including requirements development and interpretation, design, implementation and test, fielding, and maintenance

Must have demonstrated experience as a Product Owner, Scrum Master, or other technical leadership position

Must have demonstrated experience specifying customer needs and managing customer priorities

Experience and understanding of Earned Value Management in a software development environment

Knowledge of common software development and management tools such as:

Maven

Git/gitea/gitlab

Nexus

Eclipse

Experience with agile development methodologies

Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams

Experience with DoD integration processes, Agile and DevOps/DevSecOps methodologies, and automated test tools

Command and control system application development

Experience with Software Integration and formal testing

Knowledge and experience implementing Cyber Security/RMF requirements

Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks

Must have good verbal and written communication skills, can work independently, and will possess the poise and flexibility required to work in a highly dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Good working knowledge of Ballistic Missile Defense concepts, defense communications systems, and the BMDS is highly desired

Team management/leadership in an Agile environment is desired

Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience is a plus

Product Owner and/or Scrum Master experience is a plus

Salary Range: $131,100.00 - $196,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
