POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITY
Provides competent technical skills in the operation of equipment used to record electroencephalograms. Provides quality electroencephalographic examinations and ensures proper care and operation of equipment used. Provides long-term monitoring for epilepsy. Perform other neurodiagnostic specialized procedures, including Positron Emission Topography (PET) scans, Interoperative Monitoring and Intracarotid Sodium Amobarbital Procedure (ISAP, or WADA), Electrocorticography (ECOG) and advanced archiving of routine and STAT procedures to include editing (“clipping”) and provide physician support in SEEG grid mapping and montage creation.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent; or, associates, bachelor’s or master’s degree is required.
Must have and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) credential
Completion of an accredited electroneurodiagnostic (END) school or a military END training program is preferred.
A minimum of two (2) years’ experience independently performing EEG procedures in a hospital or clinical setting is required.
One (1) year working in an EMU is preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Must have and maintain the R.EEG. T credential. Must have a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider or AHA BLS Instructor Provider card.
