ModernControls is seeking an eager and hard-working professional to join our team as a Technical Sales Engineer on the Sales Team. As a Technical Sales Engineer, you will help develop new business opportunities in the Pennsylvania/New Jersey markets, maintain existing client relationships, and drive sales for Building Automation Projects. This role involves identifying customer needs, proposing solutions, and closing sales to meet company revenue goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of BAS and HVAC systems, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in sales. This position is full time with a generous base salary + commission structure. Requirements:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other functions may be assigned:

• Work effectively in a team selling environment. Culture is everything!

• Travel within sales territory to meet new and existing customers in the commercial/industrial facility space.

• Make outbound calls and in-person visits to conduct site surveys to draft BAS proposals.

• Prospect, cold-call and network to develop leads and sales opportunities.

• Negotiate price and terms of maintenance contracts with decision-makers to close the sale.

• Ability to navigate through automation systems to accurately document and build quality scopes.

• Ability to complete take offs using MEP drawings for scope development.

• Ability to field design scopes based off site information, customer input and industry knowledge.

• Coordinate project scopes with subcontracts of other trades.

• Build and maintain strong and successful relationships with customers, vendors, and subcontractors.

• Conduct price estimates and quotations for projects and preventative maintenance contracts (with help from your team).

• Maintain records of all sales leads and/or customer accounts in CRM database.

• Collaborate with other business units within the company for cross-selling opportunities.

• Follow-up on sales leads and lists generated by management and others.

• Participate in opportunities to advance the company’s interests and personal interests including training, business development meetings, and networking associations.

• Continually build technical knowledge of automation system advancements in order to provide your customers with smart systems.

• Achieve sales and gross margin goals while providing customers with superior value and service.

• Conduct product demonstrations for key stakeholders to showcase capabilities, address technical inquiries, and achieve the technical win.

• Serve as the primary technical sales resource for our customers.

• Assist in preparing proposals and responses to RFPs. Provide Technical insights and guidance during contract negotiations to ensure alignment with customer expectations.

• Gather customer feedback and market insights to contribute to product enhancements and roadmap development.

• Conduct training sessions for the sales team to enhance their technical understanding and sales effectiveness.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience:

o High School or GED

o Vast Experience in Industrial/Commercial HVAC/Building Automation

o Efficient in Microsoft Products

o Valid driver’s license and in good standing

o Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

o Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and balance several customers/projects at a time

o Thrive in a team environment

o Knowledge of Johnson Controls and Distech product lines
