Aluminum & Steel Shipfitters with Per Diem

Job Description

NSC is hiring Aluminum & Steel Shipfitters for the Navy Shipbuilding in Marinette, WI, with at least 4-5 years of experience in the trade and is able to pass GMAW-P fillet (3F, 4F) welding on Aluminum and FCAW fillet (3F, 4F) welding components.

We offer Per Diem for traveler that lives 80+ miles from shipyard, a sign on bonus and a cash OR hotel advance for the successful candidate that will pass the test.

* Must be available to work all shifts including weekend shift and over time when needed

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, but not limited to:

Perform production welding on ship vessels and in a fabrication shop.

Weld structural parts, deck plates, bulkheads, and foundations using GMAW & FCAW fillet welds.

Collaborate in a team-based environment to ensure high-quality fabrication.

Read, interpret, and work from blueprints and technical drawings.

REQUIREMENTS:

4-5 years of experience at the journeyman/first-class level.

Proficiency in GMAW-P & FCAW

Ability to pass a hands-on fillet weld test in positions 3F and 4F on Aluminum and Carbon Steel with GMAW-P & FCAW

Must own basic welding tools.

Basic proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics.

Candidate Requirements:

Minimum of 4 years of shipyard experience.

Onboarding must be completed entirely before Orientation.

Candidates must arrange their own transportation to WI.

Non-locals may receive approval for a one-week hotel advance if necessary.

Must be capable of wearing a respirator and passing standard background checks, audiograms, and drug screens.

OSHA 10 Maritime certification required within 30 days of starting, provided by NSC at no cost

Will be place entry level for 1st 3 weeks, afterwards they will evaluate. Any bump to mid or top will be immediate with back pay for the 3 weeks since start.

Must complete RFT, Audiogram and DS prior to Orientation

Must be able to pass Certs for trade, complete all medicals and complete On Boarding

Checklist the week prior to Orientation

Good attendance & reliable

Must have own steel toes

Must be US citizens and provide proof to NSC beforehand in hard copy, original at Orientation

Must complete Convergence Training and bring printed certs of completion to Orientation

Orientations held Mondays-Tuesday (2 days) each week. Must pass Workmanship Training to begin working.
