Empowering Mindz LLC is looking for the following Substance Abuse Counselors/ADT for our Outpatient Facility. This position is offering the opportunity to deliver health programs and resources to a diverse Baltimore-based clientele. The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor provides counseling and case management services to clients with substance use disorders by using interventions, referrals, treatment, and rehabilitation.
The counselor will work directly with clients. This position requires a thorough understanding of the organization’s philosophy of treatment, admission process, discharge criteria and aftercare services. Extensive knowledge of substance abuse and dual diagnosis is essential. This position is responsible for ensuring that clinical and administrative services are provided for all consumers in accordance with government and accreditation regulations.
Duties:
The counselor will have the responsibility to carry out rehabilitation and support functions and assist in treatment; substance abuse services, education support and consultation to the persons served.
Maintains a caseload as assigned and in accordance with COMAR regulations and CARF. Ensures incoming clients have a complete psycho-social history and comprehensive assessment and interpretative summary. Prepares, a Comprehensive Treatment Plan for all clients, completes a Treatment Plan Update/Review in accordance with applicable federal and state standards as well as agency policies and procedures, performs individual counseling with clients and emergency intervention, performs Group Counseling, documents client progress and all interventions in the client's record, prepares an aftercare plan for all persons served completing the program or being discharged, completes discharge summaries for assigned caseload within time allotted per State regulations, provides coordination of care of health, housing and community services according to the Treatment Plan and individuals need, ensures the completion of client caseloads, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other essential documentation in accordance with applicable federal and state standards as well as agency policies and procedures, keeps all client files updated in accordance with established policies and procedures, arrange referrals to other agencies and resources in the community when appropriate, and performs treatment plan reviews in a timely manner as required by state and agency.
Specific Duties Include:
Assist in the client intake process
Administer approved assessment instruments and interpret the results.
Ability to determine level of care placement using ASAM criteria
Develop treatment plans (Initial and Reviews) to include problem areas, goals, interventions, desired outcomes, and treatment strategies, as well as making referrals for ancillary services
Provide counseling and case management for clients with substance use disorders
Facilitate group meetings with clients
Provide individual/crisis counseling sessions
Complete discharge summaries in a timely fashion.
Present clients for Treatment Team Review as needed
Maintain accurate and updated client records
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the established diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders
Knowledge of methods of measuring treatment outcomes
Skilled in tailoring helping strategies and treatment
Skill in accurately documenting client-related information
Ability to intervene and manage clients in crises
Ability to learn the support systems and community resources
Ability to make constructive therapeutic responses when the client’s behavior is inconsistent with stated recovery goals
Education and Experience:
Associate’s, Bachelor's or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
Licenses, registrations, and certificates:
Approved by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselor and Therapists as an counselor or ADTCompany Description
