Job Summary: Field Technicians will be trained in all products, processes, equipment, and safety so they can work consistently and effectively on a two-man team to deliver high-quality results to all hospitality site engagements. Training begins with onsite training at our Frisco, Texas headquarters. New candidates will learn about the Hospitality Industry, NHSP, and how to become an expert in all phases of the NHSP processes. Personal appearance, manners, accurate, and polite communication with all Team Members and All Customers are expected. Field Technicians are our ‘front line’ representatives and must uphold the highest courtesy and ethical standards between themselves and Customer Personnel at each site. Field Technicians are expected to proactively and positively help resolve all obstacles to deliver the quality products and processes as agreed to in the NHSP site proposal. This position works on-site at our hotel customers across all 50 states. Typical Travel schedule ranges from 3-to-4 weeks on the road then home for a week break.
Function/Responsibilities: Field Technicians will be trained in the NHSP Standard Work Process and will normally work in 'Two-Man' Technician Teams once they become Certified Field Technicians. The Two-Man Teams work as one following the NHSP Standard Work Playbooks for all processes. All Field Techs will be trained in all processes. After in-house training in Frisco, Texas, each candidate will be assigned to an experienced Field Tech through their initial 90-day probationary period. During this probation, they will be trained in all processes, have a ‘field review’ by their original Trainer, and need to ‘Pass’ their field competency review by the end of their 90-day probationary period. All Team Members are expected to participate in continuous improvement activities to improve quality and throughput. Technicians use excellent communication skills to keep both Customers and Company Team Members informed of Project Status thus ensuring the smooth and timely completion of each project; Technicians use both common sense and good problem-solving methodology to resolve issues arising on-site. Each Technician must fully embrace the NHSP personal metrics of “TIE”: TEAMWORK, INTEGRITY, and EXCELLENCE.
Areas of Strength: Ability to work as a good Team-Mate, communicating and completing all processes in a consistent, workman-like mode. Follows Standard Work methodology; identifies any issues impacting quality or performance and communicates them to their Team-Mate and Headquarters (as needed).
Computer/Electronics Experience Needed: Adept with smartphones, IPads, etc. as needed to convey timely proposal information to the NHSP team and status updates to members of their site team.
Education Needed or Equivalence: High School Diploma, GED equivalent (or) 2-3 years of experience to achieve expert-level knowledge of NHSP products and processes.
Career Progression: All Technicians will have Annual Reviews on or near their Hire Date.
· Probation: All New Hires will go through in-house training in Frisco, Texas before being assigned to a Field Technician as part of a two-man team. The Probationary Period is 90 days. Candidates passing a Field Examination by their Trainer during these 90 days and on the recommendation of their Field Technician trainer should become certified as a Qualified Technician by the end of the 90-day probationary period. Should the candidate not like this profession or not qualify based on performance, including technical capability or adhering to Company Metrics they will be terminated. This will be determined by a 90-day review with HR, their Trainer, and a representative of management. Probation Income: $15 - $20 per hour
· Qualified: Based on the 90-day Review the new candidate will be re-classified as a Qualified Technician. All new hires will remain in this classification for an additional 9 months. At the end of 12 months, they will again have a review with HR, their Trainer, and the Owner to determine their overall skill and review their commitment to Company Metrics. If all participants agree, the Technician may be reclassified as an Expert Field Technician. If they are not reclassified as an Expert Field Technician, they, along with HR, their Trainer, and the Owner will develop a 90-day plan to get them to the Expert Classification. This will entail effort from the candidate to meet the stated goals. If achieved, they will be reclassified as Expert Field Technicians. If they do not meet the requirements, the process will be repeated at their next anniversary date. Qualified Income: $20.00 - $25.00
· Expert: Expert Technicians will remain in this classification until there is a need for additional trainers and at that time they may apply for the position. This qualification and certification will be managed by HR, an existing Trainer, and the Owner. Only the Owner may designate the need for additional Trainer(s). This position will require additional training on how to Teach the methods, techniques, and etiquette necessary to train new candidates. Expert Income: $25.00 - $30.00
· Trainer: All Trainers will go through additional coaching/training to teach consistent processes, techniques, and communication skills to all candidates. Training will be based on TWI (Training Within Industry Standards) and focus on the concepts of Standard Work, Techniques & Skills, and Equipment Use-Care-Maintenance.
