John Turner Consulting, Inc. is seeking an experienced and dynamic Materials Testing Special Inspector Coordinator with 10+ years of experience in materials testing and special inspections in the New England region. This individual will play a critical role in managing and growing our special inspections division. As part of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating, training, and leading a team of inspectors while ensuring quality control and maintaining excellent client relationships.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural steel, building envelope inspections, and other areas of expertise such as masonry, concrete, rebar, soils, fireproofing, Firestopping, intumescent paint, floor flatness, post tension slabs, and pull testing. Candidates with experience in concrete coring on bridge decks, foundations, and vertical structures will also be expected.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate and manage the day-to-day operations of special inspections.

Oversee and train inspection staff, ensuring high-quality work.

Communicate with clients to address questions, concerns, and schedule updates.

Review and verify Statements of Special Inspections for accuracy.

Ensure that all nonconformities are properly documented and addressed.

Sign off on Statements of Special Inspections, ensuring they meet all project specifications and regulatory requirements.

Provide detailed inspection reports to clients within 48 hours of inspections.

Recruit and hire qualified staff to support the division’s growth.

Travel to job sites throughout New England as needed.

Perform additional tasks such as concrete coring and testing as needed.

Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in materials testing and special inspections.

Bachelor's degree in a related field or Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.

Strong understanding of structural steel, building envelope inspections, fire stopping, fireproofing, intumescent paint, floor flatness, masonry, concrete, rebar, soils, and other relevant areas of expertise.

Certifications in relevant fields are required, or the ability to obtain them.

Proven ability to manage and lead a team.

Ability to coordinate schedules, manage client communications, and ensure timely project delivery.

Ability to work independently and take initiative in growing the division.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Willingness to travel to various job sites throughout New England.
