Job Description

Norfolk Collegiate seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Middle and Upper School Latin Teacher to join our faculty for the 2025-2026 academic year. This position will be responsible for teaching Latin classes from seventh grade through Latin V, advising a small group of upper school students, and supporting the school's mission through collaboration and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach Latin courses across middle and upper school levels, including seventh grade through Latin V.

Develop a dynamic and engaging curriculum that fosters a deep understanding of Latin language, literature, and Roman culture.

Utilize innovative teaching methods, including technology and interactive learning strategies, to enhance student engagement.

Differentiate instruction to support students with a range of abilities and learning styles.

Advise a small group of upper school students, providing academic and personal support.

Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Latin and classical studies into interdisciplinary learning opportunities.

Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to foster a strong learning community.

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Latin, Classics, or a related field; advanced degrees are valued.

Teaching experience at the middle and/or upper school level preferred.

Deep knowledge of Latin language, literature, and Roman history.

Strong instructional skills and a passion for classical languages.

Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

Ability to collaborate with colleagues across disciplines.
